I was shocked and saddened to read this;

Known here as Zilchlab, Evan was the most devoted to this hobby of anyone I know. Selfless and sometimes controversial, he wasn't afraid to challenge the norm in search of the bottom line. Then he'd take that info and shake it with the tenacity of a pit bull to wring out solutions.

I was lucky enough to have had several personal interactions with Zilch, and benefitted from them all. Even the time I lost a $100 bet, I really came out better off.

Zilch spent a lot of time with Altecs too, a couple of notables were the Valencia dissection in the "...my babies..." thread at LHF, and the creation of the Z19 XO, which IMO has yet to be fully appreciated.

Evan was a team player, and the number of hobbyists he worked with personally on various projects was huge.

While he recently adopted a signature here claiming membership to the cult of the stinky wrapper, he will be remembered for the trademark;

More data, Less wank.

Rest in Peace brother.

I'm shocked--I hadn't even heard he was ill. Evan (Zilch) was one of the first people to help me back when I joined the LH board over two years ago. He was incredibly helpful with schematics, advice, etc. when I recapped my AS-101's and has been very helpful to me many times since then on this forum as well. He always had that "no nonsense/straight shooter" attitude and was unbelievably knowledgeable and quick to share his experience, test results, etc. with anyone who needed his help. My sincere condolences to all his family and friends. RIP Evan--you will be missed by many.

I am shocked! He helped me on some of my inquiries here about HF drivers and patiently answered my inquiries even if he's aware that I am just a newbie here. That was just a month ago if I am not mistaken.

Rest in peace Evan! I will remember you.

Well written post Brad, thank you for putting it up as i wouldn't have been aware otherwise.

Unfortunately, it's one of the saddest posts i've ever read.

Zilch demonstrated a generosity that is most uncommon in the world today, i will forever appreciate and respect his willingness to help anyone with the slightest interest in loudspeakers.

A great reminder for everyone to appreciate those around you in your day to day life.

The modern world of loudspeakers has lost a great benefactor.

Farewell Zilch, may peace be with you always.
